Introducing BASS
The Bass Anglers' Sportfishing Society was formed following a meeting of bass anglers in march 1973. Our members come from all parts of the British Isles, with a few from even further afield, and from all walks of life.
We believe that together we have an opportunity to encourage the conservation, research and protection of European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, and to improve techniques of angling for the species.
We are dedicated to the conservation of our premier sporting seafish, the European sea bass.
The main events we organise each year include our AGM, which features a selection of invited speakers and tackle stands, and a number of organised - and some disorganised - fish-ins. Further details of these can be found in our magazines, or on this web site.
The society is affiliated to the National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA), is a member of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), and maintains a membership of the Marine Biological Association.
Members have the option to join a postal mailing list and by this means communicate directly with other members to share information about bass fishing and conservation issues.
Last, but not least, the BASS committee is open to all members and meets about 3 or 4 times a year to discuss the business of the Society; further details of its current membership are available on this web site.
